Blog#7

In american society today, there are many who suffer from Anorexia. This is commonly found in most girls and woman. Anorexia is an illessness that people have when they have an obsssesion with being thin. Instead of loosing weight by excersizing, proper dieting, they do the opposite. They also often have this illusion that they are extremely fat. To them they see a fat figure and are in denial that they are skinny. Anyone who looks at a person with anorexia can tell they are malnurished and need to gain some pounds. But when that person looks at them selves they see an over weight figure. They then continue  a visious cycle of eating very small portions, excessive excersizing, starvation, and vomiting to loose more weight that they dont have.
People with this disorder usually go through this because of lack of self confidence and what society portrays what the "ideal" body is supposed to look like. Flat stomach, curves, and thin. Many woman and teens sometimes want to have this look but usually go too far. They then start to create this habbit of not eating, which then turns into anorexia.

blog #3

“The better humans will view ‘normal’ humans as the other and seek to control or destroy them”. My position on this hypothesis is vise-versa. Originally Annas wrote “the normal humans will view the ‘better’ humans as the other and seek to control or destroy them”. Throughout the movie Gattaca it shows how the better humans viewed “normal” or the non-genetically engineered humans as the other.
In the beginning of the movie Vincent says that it was discrimination down to the science. What he meant by this was that all humans got jobs based on genetics. If you were ill you weren’t abele to be sent off to space. All the men who weren’t perfect were placed to clean as a job. Vincent happen to be one of the unlucky ones. Having a chronic illness and not being able to live a long time suffered. He had this dream to go to space but wasn’t qualified. His blood type didn’t match the job description. His brother on the other hand was. Being a creation of science had no imperfections. To his parents he was the “better” brother and Vincent was the “other” pushed to the side.

blog # 2

Definition of utopia:

Utopia: An ideally perfect place, especially in its social, political, and moral aspects
("the free dictionary by Farlex")

Definition of dystopia:

Dystopia: An imaginary place where the conditions and quality of life are unpleasant. The opposite of Utopia.
("the free dictionary by Farlex")

From the definition of utopia i understand that its not an existing place its just made up. its like an escape in peoples mind that they go to.
this also makes me think of Plato's Theory of Forms because the form world is a perfect place. It also makes me think of the movie Avatar.
From the definition Dystopia i understand its an imaginary place that's not good.
when i think about the definition of dystopia it makes me think of bad dreams because dreams are not real and when your having a bad dream you don't feel good. You feel scared and all these negative emotions.

Autobiography

                                                              HELLO THERE :)
My name is Miracle. Why?  Because I was a “Miracle baby”. My mother didn't really take very good care of me when she was pregnant for me. She never really went to the doctor to see how everything was going with me none of that. My heart stopped beating TWICE while I was in her stomach. So that’s why she named me Miracle. I thank Jesus Christ because I’m alive without any defects or anything seriously wrong with me. I was born on June 12(day of the Puerto Rican Parade) and I’m 18 years old. I am 100% BORICUA and proud of it. I am the third of four children; I have two older brothers and one sister. I live in the boogey down Bronx with my mom, step father, little sis, and older bro. I recently just graduated from the high school for Violin and Dance and now I attend LaGuardia Community College.
I am a very cool, down to earth kind of gal. I get along with just about anyone, I talk to just about anyone, and I’m funny. I’m very blunt. So if you’re my friend, best believe I’m going to be VERY HONEST with you. If u ask my opinion on something I’m not going to sugar code anything. I also don’t take sides either. If you’re wrong you’re wrong I will tell you I have no shame in my game. I love to just have a good time and try new things. I’m just all around an AWESOME person. I like watching movies, hanging with friends, singing, dancing, just about anything that’s fun. I love eating; I eat just about anything, except anything that has chase and mayo. So no. I don’t eat lasagna, mac and cheese, chicken Parmesan, any pasta with cheese, cheese in my sandwiches, macaroni salad, you name it. But I do enjoy pizza. I don’t know how I’m just a weird person I guess.
But! That’s pretty much about me. I’m a weird, funny, cool, down to earth, honest person, who can EAT like crazy. :)
